His Faithfulness – By Pastor Sue Owen
In a day when security is hard to find and comfort is fleeting – to know God has promised to never leave us is a very powerful thing. In the Contemporary English Bible (CEB) we read
Joshua 1:9
I’ve commanded you to be strong and brave. Don’t ever be afraid or discouraged! I am the Lord your God, and I will be there to help you wherever you go.
The Hebrew word for ‘wherever’ is Yalak – you can find it in Strongs concordance ref no 3212. It means to walk, carry, lead and journey. What a promise! The God of all creation who loves us and commits to us is faithful beyond all others.
He is not an easygoing onlooker, a distant cheerleader, and certainly not an absent task master. The bible says He passionately invests in us and enables us to run into prosperity. All of His intentions are crafted purely to bless us.
Through seasons of schooling, city living and career building we can find that friendships grow hot and cold. We can benefit from closeness and even find that distance creates depth. On the other hand even with the best of intentions our relationships can be challenged and strained through busy times and extended silence.
Not so with God – at least on His part we know:
- His love remains firm
- His commitment continues
- His faithfulness never fails
So what can we do to live in the blessing of His faithful friendship?
We can
1: Reach to Him often throughout every single day with a thankful statement.
2: Listen as we pray for guidance with an open heart and an open bible.
3: Remember He sent His Son to be our Saviour.
4: Be expectant as He promises to provide through every season.
5: Remind ourselves that He chooses us and loves us in all of our uniqueness.
6: Be sure He absolutely protects His plan for our lives setting up each new day with favour.
